"I'm grateful for helping me start my online business - website, blogging, etc. for my holistic medical - dental products and tutorials. Thanks Tyrone"
I’ve been getting a lot of people asking me about how I create my video tutorials and how I have my face at the bottom right of the screen. It’s like as though I’m demonstrating a tutorial and at the same time you can still see me talking to you. It’s actually very simple and inside this video below I’ll show you step by step how I do it:

Hi, it’s Tyrone from Tyroneshum.com. Today I want to share with you a specific tutorial on how to be able to create those little small picture inside those screenshots that I do, all those screen captures that I do.
I have to tell you, there have been so many people asking me and you maybe one of them that have asked me. I said look, I’ll create a tutorial on how to do that. I’ll be honest with you, it’s so, so easy to do it’s not funny so I thought all right, to clear it up to help you really, really understand how to do it, all you really need is two things. I thought I have to share it with you right now.
First thing is you need a computer, and second thing you need a software, piece of software depending on what type of computer you have. But I can only tell you how to do it in Mac because that’s what I use. I’ve tried it in Camtasia but it doesn’t seem to work on PC very well which is a version of PC. So today’s tutorial is only, only going to be specifically how to create a picture in those screen capture videos that I do with my face at the bottom of it for Mac users and a particular software called Screenflow. So those are the things you need, you need a Mac computer and you need a software called Screenflow and that’s all you need to do to be able to record.
And, obviously to record sound and video, you need a video camera which is built-in and also your microphone which is also built-in as well, simple as that. So let me hop over onto my computer right now and I’ll show you exactly step by step how to do it. Okay, it’ll only take a few minutes, I’ll see you soon.
All right, I’m inside my computer right now. The thing that you need is the software called Screenflow which is right here. And, all you have to do is simply click on File, click on New Recording and what will happen is that it’ll bring up basically this little screen right here. And, you can see my little video and also the recording that’s going on which is happening right now. Once you’ve got that working, then you’ll just have to press the Record button and it’ll start to capture what we’re doing right now. And, what I find is that it’ll give you probably 3 seconds and the camera will load up and also will start to record in Screenflow.
So right now I’m facing the camera and talking directly to the camera and I’m talking as I only talk to the webcam and I’m recording my face while I could be doing a screenshot showing you how to do this, how to do that, how to do that. It’s that easy. And then once you finish all that, all you have to do is simply click two keys, three keys I should say it’s Option key Shift key and 2. And…let’s have a look. Wolah, there you go.
So as you can see I’ve got my little thing that’s been recorded there and I can move this anywhere I want — I can shrink it, I can enlarge it, I can do whatever I want to do. That’s how easy it is to record it, I can even make it in full screen if I wanted to. So depending on what the effect you want to achieve, and what you want to do, that’s all you have to do. And, that’s how easy it is to use in Screenflow. So I hope that’s really helped you there. I’m going to switch back over to the Screenflow software right now and we’ll finish off.
And, you can use this software to do any screen capture, you can do any facial capture that you want to do just how I’ve been doing. This is what we call the Picture-In screen capture and that way I can really convey what I’m doing, talking to people and still being on the screen as well.
If do have any further questions and you’re still not sure how to implement this, just shoot me an email or leave a comment below and what I’ll do is I’ll try to find some other tutorials showing you how to do this. But it should be pretty self-explanatory now, all you need to do is get a piece of software and if you do have it just play around with it and just make sure you’re using it in either iMac or Macbook Pro.
All right, love to hear any more comments if you got any other ideas or any other good software that are better than Screenflow, love you to share as well because I love to learn what’s good out there and I’m always looking for good pieces of tools for screen capture stuff. Well, it’s Tyrone from Tyroneshum.com, I’ll see you in the next video and have a great day. Bye for now!
That’s it! Screen capture is really that easy especially when you’re using Mac plus a great screen capture software like Screenflow. I hope you learnt a lot and I look forward to seeing you doing the same in your videos. That way we could all be optimizing on our own videos and expecting much, much results to market. So, if you have more questions, I’d love to help you more and just leave them all below. Talk soon.
Tyrone, could I ask you if Screenflow normally shows the “picture in picture” mini-screen showing the iCamera image as you are recording?
I’m trying to create “picture in picture” but when I press record the min-screen of my face disappears until the recording is complete which makes things hard to ensure that I am looking at the lens, etc.
Good question. No, the screen of the camera is not shown whilst recording. What I do normally is when I want to talk to the “audience” which is you, I look directly at the camera. Otherwise when I’m doing a demonstration of the screen, you will notice I look at my screen.
A Tip: before you start to say anything when the camera is on, give it at least 3 seconds to load the camera. When you see the green light is steady, then you can start to record.
Thanks for the video explanation Tyrone. I have Screenflow and Camtasia but find Screenflow really easy to use. Could I ask you how you “set” your video inside teh “background” image that you sometimes use? How do you manage to “fit” it into the graphic?
Thanks and I love using Screenflow! All I’ve done is find the background image I want to use, and inserted it into the timeline. Then I place the recorded video on top of the background and resize it to fit it the way I want. It’s actually quite simple.
Yes Screenflow in my opinion rocks out there and beats a lot of the professional video editing softwares in the market! Simple and easy to use is the best remedy to get excellent results!

Tyrone,
Screenflow rocks!
Thanks for showing everyone how to do this. I’ve been using screenflow for a while and love it.
So simple to use. There are so many other great things you can do with it too. A simple tool to make things look very professional!
Another reason to get a Mac! I can’t beleive it but I think I’m going to have to make my next computer a mac. Would have never thought that just a few months ago!
Great tutorial. I purchased screenflow a few months back, and the software is great. I was previously a Windows user and glad that I’m on a Mac now! Been playing around with the cam/desktop setup but for the moment I’m going to stick to just desktop only, hehe.
Thanks Karl. Mac’s are great and I was a windows user as well. Will never go back as Mac is SO much easier to use and has some excellent tools for video production.

The result looks great.

I once used camtasia before but I lost the product key which was my friend gave me.
But anyway, I really like to do a screencasting especially, if you want to do a tutorial video.
You can also see your face on the screen but make sure that you have a good camera so that your image won’t get delayed blurd.
Thanks for sharing this Tyrone.

Hi Felix,
Thanks for your reply. What do you mean by a tutorial on Screencasting? What do you want to learn specifically?
Yes the camera’s built into the Mac are very good, so that’s why I’ve only stuck with that to do my picture in picture screen captures.
It’s cool!
I got an iMac a few weeks ago and I fell in love with it immediatly. The darn thing can do anything you can think of.
Ill have to check out screenflow. Ive never heard of it but if it is recommended by you Tyrone it is bound to be a good software.
Hi Chris,
You lucky duck! It’s a gem and I know

Hey Erik,
Yes Screenflow rocks! Best software I’ve ever used and has made my life so much easier!
Awesome! Have you played with screentoaster? Online screen capture! Bizarre concept.
Hi Mark,
Yes I have and that’s a good one as well. Screenr is another great one for online screen capturing.
The reason I use Screenflow is for the ability to record my face on the screen.
Hey Tyrone
Another reason to get a Mac! I can’t beleive it but I think I’m going to have to make my next computer a mac. Would have never thought that just a few months ago!
Hey David,
That’s what I thought and since then I’ve never looked back. I always recommend a Mac to everyone now!
Does Camtasia do this? I know you don’t use camtasia but you did mention it. Also what is that white mic you have?
Hi Justin,
Not that I am aware of. That’s why I recommend using Screenflow in Mac. It’s easy and fast!
